dep11-tools software package provides Tools to generate and validate DEP-11 AppStream metadata, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dep11-tools
dep11-tools is installed in your system.
